Mt Cootha Classic Hillclimb Results 29th & 30th May 2010
This was the 2nd annual Mt Cootha Classic and a total of 143 cars ready to attack the Mt Cootha track. On Saturday the competitors were ready and willing but the weather had other ideas as clouds rolled in the rain started and rain fell on and off all day. The runs on Saturday were very wet with just a few cars having some moments but most made it without any major problems.
Sunday was a contrast to Saturday as the sun made an appearance and it stayed out all day making a great day of competition. This event had a fantastic range of Cars and Motor bikes.
The eventual outright winning time was Bill Norman with a time of 50.65 then in second place was Allan McConnell with a time of 51.46 and then in third place was Warwick Hutchinson with a time of 51.68.
The Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars did well with a 3rd outright and 2nd in class going to Warwick Hutchinson in his RPV02.
Darren Duffield in his RPV01 was the next Rotary Hillclimb Racing Car with the best timed run on the 2nd run of the day of 55.13.
The next Rotary Hillclimb Racing Car was Scott Trentoweth in his Mazda Rx7, Scott had a great run on Sunday to get his RX7 into the top 13 cars to run this event. Scott must be congratulated for this result, he also was faster than his father Mark in his Jaguar V12 Sports sedan great result Scott go the rotors!!
In total there was only 4 Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars entered in this year’s Mt Cootha Classic, Darren Duffield (RV01– 13B T), Scott Trentoweth (Mazda Rx7 – 13B), Tyrone Gilbert (Mazda Rx7 – 12A) and Warwick Hutchinson (RPV02 13B T).

Warwick Hutchinson (RPV02 13B Turbo) 51.68 – (2nd in Class & 3rd Outright)
Darren Duffield (RPV01 13B Turbo) 55.13 – (3rd in Class & 6th Outright)
Scott Trentoweth (Mazda Rx7 – 13B) 57.82 – (2nd in Class & 13th Outright)
Tyrone Gilbert (Mazda Rx7 – 12A) 1:11.65 – (13th in Class & 101st Outright)
