Results of Queensland Hillclimb Championship – 2019
The weather for the 2019 QHC was predicted to be wet however the rain stayed away for the weekend allowing for perfect conditions for Sunday. There were a large number of spectators all eager to watch all the 77 competitors that had entered this event.
Competition was fierce between the outright contenders of Dean Amos, Brett Hayward, Michael Von Rappard and Dean Tighe.
With Dean Amos the victor with a sensational time of 35.99 in second place was Dean Tighe with a time of 36.24 and then third outright was Brett Hayward with a time of 36.62.
Another highlight was a new member to the under 40s Club Brett Bull in his self-built Van Diemen RF03K with a time of 39.85 well done Brett even better times to come.
This Hillclimb had 4 rotary Hillclimb racing cars entered in 3 different classes.
Cameron Herman, Stephen Torpe, Paul Hibberd and Warwick Hutchinson
Cameron Herman and Stephen Torpey were running there RX7’s in 2A Sports Cars (Closed) 2001cc & Over Class.
Cameron’s RX7 first run time on Sunday was 50.71 sec then he reduced this time down to a 49.44 sec on the 3rd run of the day on Sunday. Well done good result Cameron.
Stephen’s RX7 first run time on Sunday was 52.43 sec then he reduced this time down to a 51.84 sec also on the 3rd run of the day on Sunday. Another good result Stephen.
Paul Hibberd was running his RX8 in Road Registered 2001cc & Over Class.
Paul had an issue with cooling and due to this he only did 1 official run on Sunday with excellent a time of 48.07 sec.
Warwick Hutchinson in his (RPV03 – OMS28) entered Formula Libre – 2001cc & Over.
Warwick’s best time was on his last run with his best time of 40.78 sec.

Cameron Herman (Mazda RX7) 49.44 sec – (2nd in Class & 41st Outright)
Stephen Torpey (Mazda RX7) 51.84 sec – (3rd in Class & 56th Outright)
Paul Hibberd (Mazda RX8) 48.07 sec – (1st in Class & 35th Outright)
Warwick Hutchinson (RPV03 13B Turbo) 40.78 sec – (7th in Class & 9th Outright)

2nd Dean Tighe (Dallara F396) – 36.24
3rd Brett Hayward (Hayward HE014) – 36.62
