Results of MGCCQ Hillclimb Series Mt Cotton – Round 1 (5th & 6th March 2022)

This was the first round at Mt Cotton Hillclimb for the 2022 season.

This was a 2 day event starting at 11.00 am on Saturday and finishing on Sunday afternoon. The weather for Saturday was 25 degrees and sunny, with only a few mishaps over the day. There were a large number of spectators all eager to watch the 52     competitors that had entered this event.

Sunday’s weather was the same as Saturday 25 degrees and sunny, the battles on-track was fierce through all the classes entered.

 This Hillclimb had only 2 rotary Hillclimb racing cars entered in 2 different classes.

David Jackson & Warwick Hutchinson.

David Jackson in his Mazda RX7 (12A) running in Regularity Class.

David did all of the 15 official runs over the weekend. His first run was a time of 63.73sec but he his best time on the 3rd run on Saturday with a time of 56.11 sec.

Warwick Hutchinson in his (RPV03 – 13B Turbo) entered Formula Libre – 1301cc & over Class.

His first run on Saturday was 39.81 sec, his fastest run was the 2nd last run on Saturday with his best time on his last run with a time of 37.73sec. He went a bit slower in the in the top six shoot out with a time of 38.50 sec.

The 2 Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars competing in this Hillclimb, their best times and outright positions are listed below.

David Jackson in his Mazda RX7 (12A) running in Regularity Class with total points 40 (40th Outright)

Warwick Hutchinson (RPV03 13B Turbo) 37.70 sec – (1st in Class & 1st Outright)

Top Six Shootout Results were –

1st Brett Bull (VD Kawasaki RF03K) – 38.02

2nd Warwick Hutchinson (RPV03 – OMS28) – 38.50

3rd Jim Milliner (OMS 2000M) – 41.15

4th David Quelch (Honda DPQ Special) – 43.04

5th Stephen Edwards (GS Yamaha R6FL) – 46.93

6th Gavin Taylor (Volkswagon Golf) – 47.88
