Ironman Hillclimb 10th February 2013.
The Hillclimb section of the Ironman Weekend was held on the Sunday 10th February 2013 at Mt Cotton.
The weather was fine and hot, a welcome change from the wet weather that we have been having for some time. The competitors attacked the track with the respect it deserved, with only a few mishaps over day. There were a large number of appreciative spectators all eager to watch the 52 competitors that had entered this event.
This Hillclimb had only 3 rotary Hillclimb racing cars entered in 3 different classes.
Noel Caplet running a Mazda RX2 in Prod & Inv Cars, incl. Road Reg – 2001cc & over. Noel started his first run with a time of 53.83 sec and he left the best time to the very last run of the day with a time of 51.89 sec the car sounded great and good to see another rotary Hillclimb racing car running.
Steve Torpey running his Mazda RX7 in Marque Sports – 2001cc & over. Steve had entered the Hillclimb but unfortunately Steve did not run on Sunday.
Warwick Hutchinson in his (RPV02) entered Formula Libre – 1301cc & over. His first run was 40.98 sec and he managed to trim that down to 38.70 on his 6th run. This was a new Personal best time by only 0.01 sec.
