Results – Historic Noosa Hillclimb 10th & 11th Nov. 2012

Historic Noosa Hillclimb 10th & 11th Nov. 2012.

This Hillclimb was well organised and run jointly by the Historic Racing Car Club and the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club’s.

Saturday’s runs started at around 8.30am and went until 4.30pm, with the weather starting fine until the start of the 3rd run. With light rain turning into heavy rain the officials were forced to only run one car on the Hill at a time to maintain safety etc.

With very heavy rain most people running managed to stay out of trouble but a few cars had some issues. The major incident over the weekend was the Isuzu Bellett driven by Elizabeth Thembath, Elizabeth badly damaged her car and also did some damage to herself when she had a run-in with the barriers between turn 8 & 9 on the 2nd run. We hope that Elizabeth has a speedy recovery and is out running at the Hill next year.

Sunday’s weather started as it was on Saturday with rain slightly easing over the day, the track improved over the day to make the track dryish for the last run of the day. With 3 runs on Saturday and 3 on Sunday the entrants had 6 official runs over the weekend.

With 165 cars taking part in this event there was only 3 Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars entered in this Hillclimb, Scott Trenoweth (Mazda RX7 – 13B) but due to a miss-hap at the AHC in Bathurst Scott did not run his Rx7, Lou Szekely (Mazda RX7 – 13B) and Warwick Hutchinson’s (RPV02 13B Turbo) their best times are listed below.

Lou Szekely in his Mazda RX7 had a great weekend Lou set his fastest time on the last run on Sunday and finished 10th in class, 81st outright. Lou was .23 seconds quicker than his best time last year, well done Lou looking forward to see how you go next year.

Warwick Hutchinson in his RPV02 Formula Libre also had a good weekend he had his fastest time on the 3rd run on Saturday just before the rain started. Due to the extremely slippery conditions on Sunday Warwick did not run his car as did a few other people in the field, opting to play another day.
