Results – Historic Noosa Hillclimb 9th & 10th Nov. 2013

Historic Noosa Hillclimb 9th & 10th Nov. 2013.

This Hillclimb was run jointly by the Historic Racing Car Club and the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club’s, once again both clubs need to be congratulated on a great weekend of Hillclimbing they even organized fantastic weather for both days well done and all your hard work is greatly appreciated.

Saturday’s first unofficial run started at around 8.30am with most people running managing to stay out of trouble but a few cars had some issues, one of the cars that was damaged was Allan McConnell in his open-wheeler. Allan sustained front & rear suspension damage that could not be fixed and could not run for the rest of the weekend.

With very hot weather the entrants were all hoping to get good times over the 2 days of competition and due to the well run event and the officials everyone had 9 official runs this was the most amount of runs ever for the history of this event.

This year with 142 cars taking part in this event there was a good entry of 5 Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars entered in this Hillclimb, Scott Trenoweth (Mazda RX713B), Lou Szekely (Mazda RX713B), Ken Luxton (Mazda RX712A), Blake Morgan (Mazda RX712A) and Warwick Hutchinson’s (RPV02 13B Turbo) their best times are listed below.

Scott Trenoweth in his Mazda RX7 had a great weekend Scott only did 7 of the 9 runs and his first run was 68.68 sec and saved the best for his last run when he set his fastest time of 60.79 sec and finished 1st in class & 11th outright. Well done Scott looking forward to seeing how you go next year.

Lou Szekely in his Mazda RX7 is one of the hard workers from the club, with helping organize and run his car he also had a great weekend Lou did all of the 9 runs and he started the weekend off with his first run of 76.05 sec. Lou’s best run was his 7th run with a time of 70.29 sec and finished 4th in class & 79th outright, see you next year Lou.

Ken Luxton in his Mazda RX7 also completed all 9 runs and he started the weekend off with his first run of 70.21 sec. Ken also had his best run on the 7th run with a time of 66.34 sec and finished 2nd in class & 45th outright. Great to see you again at Noosa the car looks great love the red.

Blake Morgan was a first time entrant for the Noosa Hillclimb this year, in his camouflaged painted Mazda RX7. Blake only did 6 of the 9 runs and his first run he did 78.65 sec his fastest run was his 5th run with a time of 71.40 sec. Blake had an issue on his 6th run and slightly damaged the LHS Front but still managed to finish 5th in class & 93rd outright. Well done Blake looking forward to seeing how you go next year.

Warwick Hutchinson in his RPV02 Formula Libre also completed all 9 runs, he started the weekend off with his first run of 54.94 sec. Warwick’s best time was on the 6th run with a time of 52.39 sec and finished 1st in class & 1st outright and only 0.3 of the outright track record. He also has dramas up the top of the track in the parking area when waiting to return back down, when a friendly local (A Snake) decided to try to hitch a ride back down the hill. Warwick the self-appointed “he man” squealed like a school girl until and another driver came to his rescue, this driver was a snake catcher and he wrestled the snake from inside the engine compartment, if it wasn’t for your help Warwick would still up the top squealing. As Warwick re-told the encounter back in the pit area safe and sound, the size of the snake got longer and longer. This encounter will be re-told over & over we are sure.
