Scott" Mazda RX 7 at Noosa Hillclimb

Saturday’s practice runs started at 12 o’clock and went until 1.30, most of the people running took part in the non-timed practice to hone their skills for the main event. The first official run on Saturday starting from 1.45 were mostly under control with most people running staying out of trouble but a few cars had some off’s, none of the cars that had issues during the weekend were badly damaged just a few red faced drivers. With colder than expected weather the track was cold and slippery for the first runs on Sunday morning but the track improved over the day to make the track grip very good. With 5 runs on Sunday and 3 on Saturday the entrants had 8 official runs over the weekend.

With 102 cars taking part in this event there was only 3 Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars competing in this hillclimb, Scott Trenoweth (Mazda RX7 – 13B), Lou Szekely (Mazda RX7 – 13B) and Warwick Hutchinson’s (RPV02 13B Turbo) their best times are listed below.

Scott Trenoweth in his beautifully prepared Mazda Rx7 had some electrical issues early on, but that was soon found to be a problem earth and then later on Sunday a leaking oil cooler made Scott not compete the last two runs. Due to this Scott finished 8th outright and .64 seconds of his best time last year.

Lou Szekely at Noosa Hillclimb July 2012

Lou Szekely in his Mazda RX7 had a great weekend with only one issue on the first run on Saturday with a DNF but Lou finished 66th outright and very impressive 2.4 seconds quicker than his best time last year, well done Lou looking forward to see how you go next year.

Warwick Hutchinson in his RPV02 Formula Libre also had a good weekend he broke the track record this is now reduced to 52.88 seconds.
