Bathurst Real Estate Australian Hillclimb Championship Results 3rd & 4th November 2012.

This Hillclimb was organised by the Bathurst Light Car Club the major sponsor was Bathurst Real Estate. The track for this event was the iconic Mt Panorama in Bathurst NSW, we were using 1.7 Klms of this circuit starting halfway up mountain straight and finishing just before Mc Phillamy Park.

Friday’s practice runs started at 9 o’clock and went until 5pm, most of the people running took to the track to hone their skills for the main event. The first official run on Saturday starting from 9am were mostly under control with most people running staying out of trouble but a few cars had some off’s, none of the cars that had issues during Saturday but it was a different on the Sunday. As the competition heated up and the cars were pushed to their limits, there were a few cars damaged. With clear weather the track was cold but it had very good grip, all entrants had 6 official runs over the weekend.

With 141 cars taking part in this event there was a good turn-out of Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars competing in this Hillclimb with a total of 12 Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars , Scott Trenoweth (Mazda RX7), Warwick Hutchinson (RPV02 13B Turbo Formula Libre), Jason Schilling (RX7), Rodney Schilling (RX7), Cooper Calman (RX7), Peter Calman (RX7), Keith Jones (RX7), Brad Shiels (RX7), Kon Pang Chan (RX7), Jason Gregory (RX7) Neville Gregory (RX7) and Glenn Latter also in a RX7, a short summary of how they all went and their best times are listed below.

Scott Trenoweth, running in Group 3J Production 2001 to 3000cc Class, in his beautifully prepared Mazda Rx7 set some good times with the highlight on the 2nd run on Sunday Scott set a new class record of 50.70sec this time was set with Scott going backwards across the finish line and unfortunately Scott damaged his car by hitting the wall with the rear of the car putting him out for the rest of the day. Well done Scott you have set the bar high by cutting 2.42 seconds of the class record. (Scott finished the weekend 1st in class & 39th outright.)

Neville & Jason Gregory also running in Group 3J Production 2001 to 3000cc Class, had a great weekend as Neville also set a time under the class record of 51.51 sec this was 1.61 seconds under the old record.
