Noosa Historic Hillclimb 13th & 14th November 2010

Noosa Hillclimb Results 13th & 14th November 2010.

It was great weekend at Noosa for the running of the 13th annual Noosa Historic Hillclimb on the 13th & 14th November 2010. The weather was very hot it was a nice change from the wet week-ends that we have had leading up to this event and it was ideal for some fast times on the 1.5 Km track. There were 148 competitors competing this year and all ready to attack the track. The rotary hillclimb racing cars of Warwick Hutchinson and Lou Szekely finished first outright and 121st outright for the weekend.

The Historic Racing Car Club of Queensland and the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club must be congratulated as this was the 13th year that this event has been run and from a competitors view point it was the best event yet. With 5 runs on Saturday and another 4 runs on Sunday this was the most runs ever over the history of this event. To add to the milestone the first run on Saturday was that all cars running in the actual official order this was also a first for this event.

Warwick Off the Start Line Noosa Hillclimb Nov 14th 2010

The RPV02 of Warwick Hutchinson finished 1st outright with a time of 53.99 (Average speed of 100.01 km/h) and just 0.20 seconds off the track record. 2nd outright was Ron Hay in his RH Honda a 6 cylinder Honda engine with a super charger with a time of 56.52 (Average speed of 95.54 km/h) Third outright was Ray Vandersee in his very fast Skelta G-Force with a time of 59.72 (Average speed of 90.42 km/h).

The only other rotary hillclimb racing car running is this year’s event was Lou Szekely. Lou was back this year in another Mazda RX7 after rolling his beautiful Blue Mazda RX7 at this Hillclimb last year. Lou’s previous RX7 was 13B Turbo but the new car is not Turbo Charged, Lou decided that he just wanted to have fun and the turbo can be fitted later. Lou’s best time over the 9 runs for the weekend was on the very last run of the day on Sunday his best time was 74.30 (Average speed of 72.67 km/h).

Warwick in his RPV02 at Noosa Hillclimb

Warwick had water pump leakage problems on the 2nd last and the last run on Sunday. The water temp was extremely high on the last run. Let’s hope that there is no engine damage to Warwick’s RPV02 as the last round of the series is in 3 weeks time at Mt Cotton.

Most of the cars running behaved themselves the only major mishap was the President of the NBCCC Max Parnell coming to grief in his very well presented E Type Jaguar.

There was only 2 Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars competing in this Hillclimb.

Warwick Hutchinson (RPV02 – 13B Turbo) – 1st outright & 1st in class.

Lou Szekely (Mazda RX7 – 13B) – 121st outright & 16th in class.

The next hillclimb event is Round 6 of the Tighe Cams Hillclimb series at Mt Cotton on the 4th & 5th December come along to see the rotary hillclimb cars in action.
