Hillclimb Results Round 2 – TSA & SR Automotive Hillclimb Series 21st & 22nd March 2014

TSA & SR Automotive Hillclimb Series Mt Cotton – Round 2 – 21st & 22nd March 2014.

This was the second round of the Hillclimb series for 2014. This year the series is proudly sponsored by TSA (Trenching Systems Australia) and SR Automotive (Stewart Reid Automotive).

This was another 2-day event starting at 11.30 Am on Saturday and finishing on Sunday afternoon.

The weather for Saturday was overcast and we had a light shower of rain as the first run of cars attacked the track, but the rain stayed away after that and the Hot humid conditions stayed around for the rest of the day. There were 73 competitors that had entered this event all were ready to compete even if the hot conditions were testing for most. Sunday’s weather was even hotter than Saturday with 34 degrees and high humidity most of the drivers and crew lost a few kilos in sweat during the day.

The MG Car Club did well to get a total of 12 runs over the 1-1/2 days of completion.

This Hillclimb had 3 rotary Hillclimb racing cars entered in 2 different classes.

Cameron Hurman running his Mazda RX7 in Modified & Invited Cars Inc. Road Reg. – 2001cc & over.

Cameron started his first run on Saturday with a time of 49.74 sec, Cameron ran all of the 12 runs for the weekend, and his best time was on the 3rd run on Saturday with a time of 49.12 sec this was 0.01 seconds slower than the first round of this series how is that for consistency Cameron, keep it up!

Steve Torpey was entered to run his Mazda RX7 in Modified & Invited Cars Inc. Road Reg. – 2001cc & over class but Steve did not run at all. We hope all is well and we get to see Steve out at the track for round 3 of the series.

Warwick Hutchinson in his (RPV02) entered Formula Libre – 1301cc & over.

Warwick had oil surge issues at the first round and he has undergone modifications to try to fix this but only had a slight improvement. He also changed suspension settings for this event and only ran 11 out of the 12 runs over the weekend.

Warwick’ s best time was a 39.25 sec he did this on the 3rd run on Sunday. Warwick was trying hard to improve his times as most Hill-climbers do but he came unstuck over the finish line on his 4th run on Sunday, hitting the Armco damaging the rear wing, the RHS rear tyre and rim, he still managed to fix this for the rest of the days runs.
