Hillclimb Results Round 2 – Mt Cotton 2012.

TIGHE CAMS HILLCLIMB, ROUND 2, 28th & 29th April 2012.

The second round of the Tighe Cams Series held on 28th & 29th April was held under very wet weather but the competitors attacked the track and the elements with the respect it deserved, with only a few mishaps over the 2 days. It was good to see some ‘old’ faces back and a number of new ones. Amongst the ‘old’ faces was Bill Norris having his first run in more than six years.

There were a large number of appreciative spectators all eager to watch the 85 competitors that had entered this round.

This round had only 2 rotary hillclimb racing cars running in 2 different classes.

Cameron Hurman running his series 6 Mazda RX7 in Modified Production & Invited cars including Road registered – 2001cc & over. Cameron did not run on Saturday and put in 4 runs on Sunday with his best time on the 3rd run of 54.11 sec not to bad considering the wet and slippery track conditions on the day.

Warwick Hutchinson in his (RPV02) entered Formula Libre – 1301cc & over Class, Warwick also did not run on the Saturday due to the extreme wet conditions. His first run on Sunday was 48.47 sec and he only managed to trim that down to 45.51 on his 2rd run. He was slower for the rest of the runs including the top 6 shootout due to rain and the wet track conditions.

The 2 Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars competing in this round of the series, their best times are listed below.

Cameron Hurman
(Mazda RX7 – 13B Turbo) 54.11 sec – (3rd in Class & 33rd Outright)

Warwick Hutchinson
(RPV02 13B Turbo) 45.51 – (1st in Class & 1st Outright)

The next hillclimb event is QHC at Mt Cotton on the 2nd & 3rd June 2012.
