Leyburn Sprints 27th & 28th August 2011.
The 16th annual Sprints, commemorating the 1949 Australian Grand Prix, had 210 entries from historic, classic and high-performance cars built between 1926 and 2010.
The Leyburn Sprints is one of the longest continuously-running historic motorsport events in the country and again it was very well supported this year by spectators, competitors and sponsors. (more…)
TIGHE CAMS HILLCLIMB, ROUND 3, 23rd & 24th July 2011.
The third round of the Series was run in wonderful Qld Winter weather and there were a large number of appreciative spectators all eager to watch the 95 competitors that had entered this round.
This round had 5 rotary hillclimb racing cars running in 2 different classes.

Cameron Hurman running his series 6 Mazda RX7 ran all 7 runs over the two days. He started on Saturday at 50.65 sec for the first run and got down to his best time for the weekend which was on the very last run on Sunday with a time of 49.75 sec this time was quicker by .51 than the best time he posted in round 2 of the series. Autobarn – MG Noosa Hillclimb Results 2nd & 3rd July 2011.
This Hillclimb was organised by the MG Car Club of Queensland and the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club’s. It was sponsored by the Autobarn stores at Gympie and Nambour. So thanks go to the two car clubs and to Autobarn for committing to sponsoring this Hillclimb again in 2012.
QHC HILLCLIMB Results 4th & 5th June 2011.
The 2011 Queensland Hillclimb Championships were blessed with the best winter weather that Queensland has to offer.
Saturday’s practice highlight was Brett Haywood setting blistering times of mid 37 second runs, not to bad for someone who has not driven the tack before. Most people running stayed out of trouble but a few cars had off’s. One of which was the crash of Rod Moody as he went back over lovers leap the car made contact the bank this damaged the front right hand side wing, rim and lower control arm, but with help from Brett Haywood the car was repaired ready for Sunday morning.
TIGHE CAMS HILLCLIMB, ROUND 2, 2nd & 3rd April 2011
The second round of the Series was run under changing weather conditions, with a generally fine Saturday and a slight shower early on Sunday this made the changing track conditions a challenge for all of the 93 competitors that had entered this round.
The weather aside we had 8 runs over the 2 days, plus the top six shootout. (more…)
TIGHE CAMS HILLCLIMB, ROUND 1, 19th & 20th Feb 2011.
The first round of the Series kicked off under very hot conditions, approx 36 degrees heat making conditions slightly uncomfortable for the 88 people that had entered this round.
TIGHE CAMS HILLCLIMB, ROUND 6.
4th & 5th December 2010.
The last round of the series was run under very wet conditions, with the weather dictating the terms the times were not going to be record braking. Round 6 of the Tighe Cams Series for 2010 had 110 entered competitors.
With the weather playing havoc the drivers trying to get grip on the wet track, a lot of drivers only ran on the Saturday and almost half of the field did not run on the Sunday. This was a bit of an anti-climax to the competition as the results for the year could not be battled out to the very end. (more…)
Noosa Hillclimb Results 13th & 14th November 2010.
It was great weekend at Noosa for the running of the 13th annual Noosa Historic Hillclimb on the 13th & 14th November 2010. The weather was very hot it was a nice change from the wet week-ends that we have had leading up to this event and it was ideal for some fast times on the 1.5 Km track. There were 148 competitors competing this year and all ready to attack the track. The rotary hillclimb racing cars of Warwick Hutchinson and Lou Szekely finished first outright and 121st outright for the weekend.
The Historic Racing Car Club of Queensland and the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club must be congratulated as this was the 13th year that this event has been run and from a competitors view point it was the best event yet. With 5 runs on Saturday and another 4 runs on Sunday this was the most runs ever over the history of this event. To add to the milestone the first run on Saturday was that all cars running in the actual official order this was also a first for this event.
TIGHE CAMS HILLCLIMB, ROUND 5, 30th & 31st October 2010.
Round 5 of the Tighe Cams Series for 2010 had 103 entered competitors. Unlike the last few Hillclimb’s the great weather allowed the competitors to get a good three runs on Saturday afternoon and another dry three on Sunday plus the top six shootout.
There were 4 Rotary Hillclimb Racing Cars entered in this round of the series, Simon Witt (RX7 – 12A T), Darren Duffield (RPV01- 13B T), Cameron Hurman (RX7 – 13B T) and Warwick Hutchinson (RPV02 – 13B T).
Simon Witt in his RX7 – 12A Turbo was running after a short break during this time Simon has rebuilt the engine and was running data logging in his car. Simon’s data showed that he was pulling 1.3 g around the Mt Cotton track, the data also shows speed oil pressure and throttle position as well as a lot more. It was the first time that Simon has used the data logging so it will be good to see how this information helps with getting the car sorted. Simon finished this round 5th in class and 43rd outright.
TIGHE CAMS HILLCLIMB, ROUND 4, 2nd & 3rd October 2010.
The fourth round of the Tighe Cams series for 2010 was run under wet weather. Even with the wet weather the 79 entered competitors were able to get three runs in on Saturday afternoon and another four runs on Sunday plus the top six shootout. Saturday and Sunday were both wet with the pick of the days being Saturday with a dryer track and the times were quicker. The fastest time of day was set on Saturday by Rod Johns (43.83 seconds).
